قَالَ رَبِّ ٱغْفِرْ لِى وَلِأَخِى وَأَدْخِلْنَا فِى رَحْمَتِكَۖ وَأَنتَ أَرْحَمُ ٱلرَّٲحِمِينَ ﴿١٥١﴾

He said
رَبِّ
rabbi
O my Lord
ٱغْفِرْ
igh'fir
Forgive
لِى
lī
me
وَلِأَخِى
wali-akhī
and my brother
وَأَدْخِلْنَا
wa-adkhil'nā
and admit us
فِى
fī
into
رَحْمَتِكَ ۖ
raḥmatika
Your Mercy
وَأَنتَ
wa-anta
for You
أَرْحَمُ
arḥamu
(are) the Most Merciful
ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ
l-rāḥimīna
(of) the merciful
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّخَذُواْ ٱلْعِجْلَ سَيَنَالُهُمْ غَضَبٌ مِّن رَّبِّهِمْ وَذِلَّةٌ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٲةِ ٱلدُّنْيَاۚ وَكَذَٲلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُفْتَرِينَ ﴿١٥٢﴾

Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
ٱتَّخَذُوا۟
ittakhadhū
took
ٱلْعِجْلَ
l-ʿij'la
the calf
سَيَنَالُهُمْ
sayanāluhum
will reach them
غَضَبٌۭ
ghaḍabun
wrath
مِّن
min
from
رَّبِّهِمْ
rabbihim
their Lord
وَذِلَّةٌۭ
wadhillatun
and humiliation
فِى
fī
in
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ
l-ḥayati
the life
ٱلدُّنْيَا ۚ
l-dun'yā
(of) the world
وَكَذَٰلِكَ
wakadhālika
And thus
نَجْزِى
najzī
We recompense
ٱلْمُفْتَرِينَ
l-muf'tarīna
the ones who invent (falsehood)
وَٱلَّذِينَ عَمِلُواْ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔـاتِ ثُمَّ تَابُواْ مِنۢ بَعْدِهَا وَءَامَنُوٓاْ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهَا لَغَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ ﴿١٥٣﴾

And those who
عَمِلُوا۟

ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ

the evil deeds
ثُمَّ
thumma
then
تَابُوا۟
tābū
repented
مِنۢ
min
from
بَعْدِهَا
baʿdihā
after that
وَءَامَنُوٓا۟
waāmanū
and believed
إِنَّ
inna
indeed
رَبَّكَ
rabbaka
your Lord
مِنۢ
min
from
بَعْدِهَا
baʿdihā
after that
لَغَفُورٌۭ
laghafūrun
(is) surely Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٌۭ
raḥīmun
Most Merciful
وَلَمَّا سَكَتَ عَن مُّوسَى ٱلْغَضَبُ أَخَذَ ٱلْأَلْوَاحَۖ وَفِى نُسْخَتِهَا هُدًى وَرَحْمَةٌ لِّلَّذِينَ هُمْ لِرَبِّهِمْ يَرْهَبُونَ ﴿١٥٤﴾

the tablets
وَفِى
wafī
and in
نُسْخَتِهَا
nus'khatihā
their inscription
هُدًۭى
hudan
(was) guidance
وَرَحْمَةٌۭ
waraḥmatun
and mercy
لِّلَّذِينَ
lilladhīna
for those who
هُمْ
hum
[they]
لِرَبِّهِمْ
lirabbihim
of their Lord
يَرْهَبُونَ
yarhabūna
(are) fearful
وَٱخْتَارَ مُوسَىٰ قَوْمَهُۥ سَبْعِينَ رَجُلاً لِّمِيقَـٰتِنَاۖ فَلَمَّآ أَخَذَتْهُمُ ٱلرَّجْفَةُ قَالَ رَبِّ لَوْ شِئْتَ أَهْلَكْتَهُم مِّن قَبْلُ وَإِيَّـٰىَۖ أَتُهْلِكُنَا بِمَا فَعَلَ ٱلسُّفَهَآءُ مِنَّآۖ إِنْ هِىَ إِلَّا فِتْنَتُكَ تُضِلُّ بِهَا مَن تَشَآءُ وَتَهْدِى مَن تَشَآءُۖ أَنتَ وَلِيُّنَا فَٱغْفِرْ لَنَا وَٱرْحَمْنَاۖ وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ ٱلْغَـٰفِرِينَ ﴿١٥٥﴾

And chose
مُوسَىٰ

Musa
قَوْمَهُۥ
qawmahu
(from) his people
سَبْعِينَ
sabʿīna
seventy
رَجُلًۭا
rajulan
men
لِّمِيقَـٰتِنَا ۖ
limīqātinā
for Our appointment
فَلَمَّآ
falammā
Then when
أَخَذَتْهُمُ
akhadhathumu
seized them
ٱلرَّجْفَةُ
l-rajfatu
the earthquake
قَالَ
qāla
he said
رَبِّ
rabbi
O my Lord
لَوْ
law
If
شِئْتَ
shi'ta
you (had) willed
أَهْلَكْتَهُم
ahlaktahum
You (could) have destroyed them
مِّن
min
from
قَبْلُ
qablu
before
وَإِيَّـٰىَ ۖ
wa-iyyāya
and me
أَتُهْلِكُنَا
atuh'likunā
Would You destroy us
بِمَا
bimā
for what
فَعَلَ
faʿala
did
ٱلسُّفَهَآءُ
l-sufahāu
the foolish
مِنَّآ ۖ
minnā
among us
إِنْ
in
Not
هِىَ
hiya
it (was)
إِلَّا
illā
but
فِتْنَتُكَ
fit'natuka
Your trial
تُضِلُّ
tuḍillu
You let go astray
بِهَا
bihā
by it
مَن
man
whom
تَشَآءُ
tashāu
You will
وَتَهْدِى
watahdī
and You guide
مَن
man
whom
تَشَآءُ ۖ
tashāu
You will
أَنتَ
anta
You
وَلِيُّنَا
waliyyunā
(are) our Protector
فَٱغْفِرْ
fa-igh'fir
so forgive
لَنَا
lanā
us
وَٱرْحَمْنَا ۖ
wa-ir'ḥamnā
and have mercy upon us
وَأَنتَ
wa-anta
and You
خَيْرُ
khayru
(are) Best
ٱلْغَـٰفِرِينَ
l-ghāfirīna
(of) Forgivers
۞ وَٱكْتُبْ لَنَا فِى هَـٰذِهِ ٱلدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِى ٱلْأَخِرَةِ إِنَّا هُدْنَآ إِلَيْكَۚ قَالَ عَذَابِىٓ أُصِيبُ بِهِۦ مَنْ أَشَآءُۖ وَرَحْمَتِى وَسِعَتْ كُلَّ شَىْءٍۚ فَسَأَكْتُبُهَا لِلَّذِينَ يَتَّقُونَ وَيُؤْتُونَ ٱلزَّكَوٲةَ وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم بِـَٔـايَـٰتِنَا يُؤْمِنُونَ ﴿١٥٦﴾

And ordain
لَنَا
lanā
for us
فِى
fī
in
هَـٰذِهِ
hādhihi
this
ٱلدُّنْيَا
l-dun'yā
[the] world
حَسَنَةًۭ
ḥasanatan
good
وَفِى
wafī
and in
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ
l-ākhirati
the Hereafter
إِنَّا
innā
Indeed, we
هُدْنَآ
hud'nā
we have turned
إِلَيْكَ ۚ
ilayka
to You
قَالَ
qāla
He said
عَذَابِىٓ
ʿadhābī
My punishment
أُصِيبُ
uṣību
I afflict
بِهِۦ
bihi
with it
مَنْ
man
whom
أَشَآءُ ۖ
ashāu
I will
وَرَحْمَتِى
waraḥmatī
but My Mercy
وَسِعَتْ
wasiʿat
encompasses
كُلَّ
kulla
every
شَىْءٍۢ ۚ
shayin
thing
فَسَأَكْتُبُهَا
fasa-aktubuhā
So I will ordain it
لِلَّذِينَ
lilladhīna
for those who
يَتَّقُونَ
yattaqūna
(are) righteous
وَيُؤْتُونَ
wayu'tūna
and give
ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ
l-zakata
zakah
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhīna
and those who
هُم
hum
[they]
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا
biāyātinā
in Our Verses
يُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minūna
they believe
ٱلَّذِينَ يَتَّبِعُونَ ٱلرَّسُولَ ٱلنَّبِىَّ ٱلْأُمِّىَّ ٱلَّذِى يَجِدُونَهُۥ مَكْتُوبًا عِندَهُمْ فِى ٱلتَّوْرَٮٰةِ وَٱلْإِنجِيلِ يَأْمُرُهُم بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَـٰهُمْ عَنِ ٱلْمُنكَرِ وَيُحِلُّ لَهُمُ ٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتِ وَيُحَرِّمُ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْخَبَـٰٓئِثَ وَيَضَعُ عَنْهُمْ إِصْرَهُمْ وَٱلْأَغْلَـٰلَ ٱلَّتِى كَانَتْ عَلَيْهِمْۚ فَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ بِهِۦ وَعَزَّرُوهُ وَنَصَرُوهُ وَٱتَّبَعُواْ ٱلنُّورَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أُنزِلَ مَعَهُۥٓۙ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ ﴿١٥٧﴾

ٱلَّذِينَ

Those who
يَتَّبِعُونَ
yattabiʿūna
follow
ٱلرَّسُولَ
l-rasūla
the Messenger
ٱلنَّبِىَّ
l-nabiya
the Prophet
ٱلْأُمِّىَّ
l-umiya
the unlettered
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī
whom
يَجِدُونَهُۥ
yajidūnahu
they find him
مَكْتُوبًا
maktūban
written
عِندَهُمْ
ʿindahum
with them
فِى
fī
in
ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِ
l-tawrāti
the Taurat
وَٱلْإِنجِيلِ
wal-injīli
and the Injeel
يَأْمُرُهُم
yamuruhum
He commands them
بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ
bil-maʿrūfi
to the right
وَيَنْهَىٰهُمْ
wayanhāhum
and forbids them
عَنِ
ʿani
from
ٱلْمُنكَرِ
l-munkari
the wrong
وَيُحِلُّ
wayuḥillu
and he makes lawful
لَهُمُ
lahumu
for them
ٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتِ
l-ṭayibāti
the pure things
وَيُحَرِّمُ
wayuḥarrimu
and makes unlawful
عَلَيْهِمُ
ʿalayhimu
for them
ٱلْخَبَـٰٓئِثَ
l-khabāitha
the impure things
وَيَضَعُ
wayaḍaʿu
and he relieves
عَنْهُمْ
ʿanhum
from them
إِصْرَهُمْ
iṣ'rahum
their burden
وَٱلْأَغْلَـٰلَ
wal-aghlāla
and the fetters
ٱلَّتِى
allatī
which
كَانَتْ
kānat
were
عَلَيْهِمْ ۚ
ʿalayhim
upon them
فَٱلَّذِينَ
fa-alladhīna
So those who
ءَامَنُوا۟
āmanū
believe
بِهِۦ
bihi
in him
وَعَزَّرُوهُ
waʿazzarūhu
and honor him
وَنَصَرُوهُ
wanaṣarūhu
and help him
وَٱتَّبَعُوا۟
wa-ittabaʿū
and follow
ٱلنُّورَ
l-nūra
the light
ٱلَّذِىٓ
alladhī
which
أُنزِلَ
unzila
has been sent down
مَعَهُۥٓ ۙ
maʿahu
with him
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
ulāika
Those (are)
هُمُ
humu
[they]
ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ
l-muf'liḥūna
the successful ones
قُلْ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ إِنِّى رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ إِلَيْكُمْ جَمِيعًا ٱلَّذِى لَهُۥ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِۖ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ يُحْىِۦ وَيُمِيتُۖ فَـَٔـامِنُواْ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ ٱلنَّبِىِّ ٱلْأُمِّىِّ ٱلَّذِى يُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ وَكَلِمَـٰتِهِۦ وَٱتَّبِعُوهُ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَهْتَدُونَ ﴿١٥٨﴾

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا

ٱلنَّاسُ
l-nāsu
mankind
إِنِّى
innī
Indeed I am
رَسُولُ
rasūlu
(the) Messenger
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
إِلَيْكُمْ
ilaykum
to you
جَمِيعًا
jamīʿan
all
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī
the One
لَهُۥ
lahu
for Whom
مُلْكُ
mul'ku
(is the) dominion
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwāti
(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ
wal-arḍi
and the earth
لَآ
lā
(There is) no
إِلَـٰهَ
ilāha
god
إِلَّا
illā
except
هُوَ
huwa
Him
يُحْىِۦ
yuḥ'yī
He gives life
وَيُمِيتُ ۖ
wayumītu
and causes death
فَـَٔامِنُوا۟
faāminū
So believe
بِٱللَّهِ
bil-lahi
in Allah
وَرَسُولِهِ
warasūlihi
and His Messenger
ٱلنَّبِىِّ
l-nabiyi
the Prophet
ٱلْأُمِّىِّ
l-umiyi
the unlettered
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī
the one who
يُؤْمِنُ
yu'minu
believes
بِٱللَّهِ
bil-lahi
in Allah
وَكَلِمَـٰتِهِۦ
wakalimātihi
and His Words
وَٱتَّبِعُوهُ
wa-ittabiʿūhu
and follow him
لَعَلَّكُمْ
laʿallakum
so that you may
تَهْتَدُونَ
tahtadūna
(be) guided
وَمِن قَوْمِ مُوسَىٰٓ أُمَّةٌ يَهْدُونَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَبِهِۦ يَعْدِلُونَ ﴿١٥٩﴾

مُوسَىٰٓ

أُمَّةٌۭ
ummatun
(is) a community
يَهْدُونَ
yahdūna
(which) guides
بِٱلْحَقِّ
bil-ḥaqi
with truth
وَبِهِۦ
wabihi
and by it
يَعْدِلُونَ
yaʿdilūna
establishes justice
وَقَطَّعْنَـٰهُمُ ٱثْنَتَىْ عَشْرَةَ أَسْبَاطًا أُمَمًاۚ وَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ إِذِ ٱسْتَسْقَـٰهُ قَوْمُهُۥٓ أَنِ ٱضْرِب بِّعَصَاكَ ٱلْحَجَرَۖ فَٱنۢبَجَسَتْ مِنْهُ ٱثْنَتَا عَشْرَةَ عَيْنًاۖ قَدْ عَلِمَ كُلُّ أُنَاسٍ مَّشْرَبَهُمْۚ وَظَلَّلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْغَمَـٰمَ وَأَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْمَنَّ وَٱلسَّلْوَىٰۖ كُلُواْ مِن طَيِّبَـٰتِ مَا رَزَقْنَـٰكُمْۚ وَمَا ظَلَمُونَا وَلَـٰكِن كَانُوٓاْ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ ﴿١٦٠﴾

وَقَطَّعْنَـٰهُمُ
waqaṭṭaʿnāhumu
And We divided them
ٱثْنَتَىْ
ith'natay
(into) two
عَشْرَةَ
ʿashrata
(and) ten [i.e. twelve]
أَسْبَاطًا
asbāṭan
tribes
أُمَمًۭا ۚ
umaman
(as) communities
وَأَوْحَيْنَآ
wa-awḥaynā
And We inspired
إِلَىٰ
ilā
to
مُوسَىٰٓ
mūsā
Musa
إِذِ
idhi
when
ٱسْتَسْقَىٰهُ
is'tasqāhu
asked him for water
قَوْمُهُۥٓ
qawmuhu
his people
أَنِ
ani
[that]
ٱضْرِب
iḍ'rib
Strike
بِّعَصَاكَ
biʿaṣāka
with your staff
ٱلْحَجَرَ ۖ
l-ḥajara
the stone
فَٱنۢبَجَسَتْ
fa-inbajasat
Then gushed forth
مِنْهُ
min'hu
from it
ٱثْنَتَا
ith'natā
two
عَشْرَةَ
ʿashrata
(and) ten [i.e. twelve]
عَيْنًۭا ۖ
ʿaynan
springs
قَدْ
qad
Certainly
عَلِمَ
ʿalima
knew
كُلُّ
kullu
each
أُنَاسٍۢ
unāsin
people
مَّشْرَبَهُمْ ۚ
mashrabahum
their drinking place
وَظَلَّلْنَا
waẓallalnā
And We shaded
عَلَيْهِمُ
ʿalayhimu
[on] them
ٱلْغَمَـٰمَ
l-ghamāma
(with) the clouds
وَأَنزَلْنَا
wa-anzalnā
and We sent down
عَلَيْهِمُ
ʿalayhimu
upon them
ٱلْمَنَّ
l-mana
the manna
وَٱلسَّلْوَىٰ ۖ
wal-salwā
and the quails
كُلُوا۟
kulū
Eat
مِن
min
from
طَيِّبَـٰتِ
ṭayyibāti
(the) good things
مَا
mā
which
رَزَقْنَـٰكُمْ ۚ
razaqnākum
We have provided you
وَمَا
wamā
And not
ظَلَمُونَا
ẓalamūnā
they wronged Us
وَلَـٰكِن
walākin
but
كَانُوٓا۟
kānū
they were
أَنفُسَهُمْ
anfusahum
(to) themselves
يَظْلِمُونَ
yaẓlimūna
doing wrong
وَإِذْ قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱسْكُنُواْ هَـٰذِهِ ٱلْقَرْيَةَ وَكُلُواْ مِنْهَا حَيْثُ شِئْتُمْ وَقُولُواْ حِطَّةٌ وَٱدْخُلُواْ ٱلْبَابَ سُجَّدًا نَّغْفِرْ لَكُمْ خَطِيٓـَٔـٰتِكُمْۚ سَنَزِيدُ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ ﴿١٦١﴾

to them
ٱسْكُنُوا۟
us'kunū
Live
هَـٰذِهِ
hādhihi
(in) this
ٱلْقَرْيَةَ
l-qaryata
city
وَكُلُوا۟
wakulū
and eat
مِنْهَا
min'hā
from it
حَيْثُ
ḥaythu
wherever
شِئْتُمْ
shi'tum
you wish
وَقُولُوا۟
waqūlū
and say
حِطَّةٌۭ
ḥiṭṭatun
Repentance
وَٱدْخُلُوا۟
wa-ud'khulū
and enter
ٱلْبَابَ
l-bāba
the gate
سُجَّدًۭا
sujjadan
prostrating
نَّغْفِرْ
naghfir
We will forgive
لَكُمْ
lakum
for you
خَطِيٓـَٔـٰتِكُمْ ۚ
khaṭīātikum
your sins
سَنَزِيدُ
sanazīdu
We will increase (reward)
ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
l-muḥ'sinīna
(of) the good-doers
فَبَدَّلَ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ مِنْهُمْ قَوْلاً غَيْرَ ٱلَّذِى قِيلَ لَهُمْ فَأَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِجْزًا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَظْلِمُونَ ﴿١٦٢﴾

torment
مِّنَ
mina
from
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
l-samāi
the sky
بِمَا
bimā
because
كَانُوا۟
kānū
they were
يَظْلِمُونَ
yaẓlimūna
doing wrong
وَسْــَٔلْهُمْ عَنِ ٱلْقَرْيَةِ ٱلَّتِى كَانَتْ حَاضِرَةَ ٱلْبَحْرِ إِذْ يَعْدُونَ فِى ٱلسَّبْتِ إِذْ تَأْتِيهِمْ حِيتَانُهُمْ يَوْمَ سَبْتِهِمْ شُرَّعًا وَيَوْمَ لَا يَسْبِتُونَۙ لَا تَأْتِيهِمْۚ كَذَٲلِكَ نَبْلُوهُم بِمَا كَانُواْ يَفْسُقُونَ ﴿١٦٣﴾

ٱلَّتِى

ٱلْبَحْرِ
l-baḥri
(by) the sea
إِذْ

when
يَعْدُونَ
yaʿdūna
they transgressed
فِى
fī
in
ٱلسَّبْتِ
l-sabti
the (matter of) Sabbath
إِذْ
idh
when
تَأْتِيهِمْ
tatīhim
came to them
حِيتَانُهُمْ
ḥītānuhum
their fish
يَوْمَ
yawma
(on the) day
سَبْتِهِمْ
sabtihim
(of) their Sabbath
شُرَّعًۭا
shurraʿan
visibly
وَيَوْمَ
wayawma
and (on the) day
لَا
lā
not
يَسْبِتُونَ ۙ
yasbitūna
they had Sabbath
لَا
lā
(they did) not
تَأْتِيهِمْ ۚ
tatīhim
come to them
كَذَٰلِكَ
kadhālika
Thus
نَبْلُوهُم
nablūhum
We test them
بِمَا
bimā
because
كَانُوا۟
kānū
they were
يَفْسُقُونَ
yafsuqūna
defiantly disobeying
وَإِذْ قَالَتْ أُمَّةٌ مِّنْهُمْ لِمَ تَعِظُونَ قَوْمًاۙ ٱللَّهُ مُهْلِكُهُمْ أَوْ مُعَذِّبُهُمْ عَذَابًا شَدِيدًاۖ قَالُواْ مَعْذِرَةً إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُمْ وَلَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَّقُونَ ﴿١٦٤﴾

وَإِذْ

And when
قَالَتْ

said
أُمَّةٌۭ
ummatun
a community
مِّنْهُمْ
min'hum
among them
لِمَ
lima
Why
تَعِظُونَ
taʿiẓūna
(do) you preach
قَوْمًا ۙ
qawman
a people
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
(whom) Allah
مُهْلِكُهُمْ
muh'likuhum
(is going to) destroy them
أَوْ
aw
or
مُعَذِّبُهُمْ
muʿadhibuhum
punish them
عَذَابًۭا
ʿadhāban
(with) a punishment
شَدِيدًۭا ۖ
shadīdan
severe
قَالُوا۟
qālū
They said
مَعْذِرَةً
maʿdhiratan
To be absolved
إِلَىٰ
ilā
before
رَبِّكُمْ
rabbikum
your Lord
وَلَعَلَّهُمْ
walaʿallahum
and that they may
يَتَّقُونَ
yattaqūna
become righteous
فَلَمَّا نَسُواْ مَا ذُكِّرُواْ بِهِۦٓ أَنجَيْنَا ٱلَّذِينَ يَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ ٱلسُّوٓءِ وَأَخَذْنَا ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ بِعَذَابِۭ بَــِٔيسِۭ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَفْسُقُونَ ﴿١٦٥﴾

فَلَمَّا

So when
نَسُوا۟
nasū
they forgot
مَا

ذُكِّرُوا۟

they had been reminded
بِهِۦٓ

with [it]
أَنجَيْنَا

We saved
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
يَنْهَوْنَ
yanhawna
forbade
عَنِ
ʿani
[from]
ٱلسُّوٓءِ
l-sūi
the evil
وَأَخَذْنَا
wa-akhadhnā
and We seized
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
ظَلَمُوا۟
ẓalamū
wronged
بِعَذَابٍۭ
biʿadhābin
with a punishment
بَـِٔيسٍۭ
baīsin
wretched
بِمَا
bimā
because
كَانُوا۟
kānū
they were
يَفْسُقُونَ
yafsuqūna
defiantly disobeying
فَلَمَّا عَتَوْاْ عَن مَّا نُهُواْ عَنْهُ قُلْنَا لَهُمْ كُونُواْ قِرَدَةً خَـٰسِــِٔينَ ﴿١٦٦﴾

they exceeded all bounds

وَإِذْ تَأَذَّنَ رَبُّكَ لَيَبْعَثَنَّ عَلَيْهِمْ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ مَن يَسُومُهُمْ سُوٓءَ ٱلْعَذَابِۗ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَسَرِيعُ ٱلْعِقَابِۖ وَإِنَّهُۥ لَغَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ ﴿١٦٧﴾

وَإِذْ
wa-idh
And when
تَأَذَّنَ
ta-adhana
declared
رَبُّكَ
rabbuka
your Lord
لَيَبْعَثَنَّ
layabʿathanna
that He would surely send
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhim
upon them
إِلَىٰ
ilā
till
يَوْمِ
yawmi
(the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ
l-qiyāmati
(of) the Resurrection
مَن
man
(those) who
يَسُومُهُمْ
yasūmuhum
would afflict them
سُوٓءَ
sūa
(with) a grievous
ٱلْعَذَابِ ۗ
l-ʿadhābi
[the] punishment
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
رَبَّكَ
rabbaka
your Lord
لَسَرِيعُ
lasarīʿu
(is) surely swift
ٱلْعِقَابِ ۖ
l-ʿiqābi
(in) the retribution
وَإِنَّهُۥ
wa-innahu
but indeed, He
لَغَفُورٌۭ
laghafūrun
(is) surely Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٌۭ
raḥīmun
Most Merciful
وَقَطَّعْنَـٰهُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ أُمَمًاۖ مِّنْهُمُ ٱلصَّـٰلِحُونَ وَمِنْهُمْ دُونَ ذَٲلِكَۖ وَبَلَوْنَـٰهُم بِٱلْحَسَنَـٰتِ وَٱلسَّيِّـَٔـاتِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ ﴿١٦٨﴾

وَقَطَّعْنَـٰهُمْ
waqaṭṭaʿnāhum
And We divided them
فِى
fī
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍi
the earth
أُمَمًۭا ۖ
umaman
(as) nations
مِّنْهُمُ
min'humu
Among them
ٱلصَّـٰلِحُونَ
l-ṣāliḥūna
(are) the righteous
وَمِنْهُمْ
wamin'hum
and among them
دُونَ
dūna
(are) other than
ذَٰلِكَ ۖ
dhālika
that
وَبَلَوْنَـٰهُم
wabalawnāhum
And We tested them
بِٱلْحَسَنَـٰتِ
bil-ḥasanāti
with the good
وَٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ
wal-sayiāti
and the bad
لَعَلَّهُمْ
laʿallahum
so that they may
يَرْجِعُونَ
yarjiʿūna
return
فَخَلَفَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ خَلْفٌ وَرِثُواْ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ يَأْخُذُونَ عَرَضَ هَـٰذَا ٱلْأَدْنَىٰ وَيَقُولُونَ سَيُغْفَرُ لَنَا وَإِن يَأْتِهِمْ عَرَضٌ مِّثْلُهُۥ يَأْخُذُوهُۚ أَلَمْ يُؤْخَذْ عَلَيْهِم مِّيثَـٰقُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ أَن لَّا يَقُولُواْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ إِلَّا ٱلْحَقَّ وَدَرَسُواْ مَا فِيهِۗ وَٱلدَّارُ ٱلْأَخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لِّلَّذِينَ يَتَّقُونَۗ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ ﴿١٦٩﴾

Then succeeded

خَلْفٌۭ

وَرِثُوا۟

(who) inherited
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ

the Book
يَأْخُذُونَ

عَرَضَ
ʿaraḍa
goods
هَـٰذَا
hādhā
(of) this
ٱلْأَدْنَىٰ
l-adnā
the lower (life)
وَيَقُولُونَ
wayaqūlūna
and they say
سَيُغْفَرُ
sayugh'faru
It will be forgiven
لَنَا
lanā
for us
وَإِن
wa-in
And if
يَأْتِهِمْ
yatihim
comes to them
عَرَضٌۭ
ʿaraḍun
goods
مِّثْلُهُۥ
mith'luhu
similar to it
يَأْخُذُوهُ ۚ
yakhudhūhu
they will take it
أَلَمْ
alam
Was not
يُؤْخَذْ
yu'khadh
taken
عَلَيْهِم
ʿalayhim
on them
مِّيثَـٰقُ
mīthāqu
Covenant
ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ
l-kitābi
(of) the Book
أَن
an
that
لَّا
lā
not
يَقُولُوا۟
yaqūlū
they will say
عَلَى
ʿalā
about
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
إِلَّا
illā
except
ٱلْحَقَّ
l-ḥaqa
the truth
وَدَرَسُوا۟
wadarasū
while they studied
مَا
mā
what
فِيهِ ۗ
fīhi
(is) in it
وَٱلدَّارُ
wal-dāru
And the home
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُ
l-ākhiratu
(of) the Hereafter
خَيْرٌۭ
khayrun
(is) better
لِّلَّذِينَ
lilladhīna
for those who
يَتَّقُونَ ۗ
yattaqūna
fear Allah
أَفَلَا
afalā
So will not
تَعْقِلُونَ
taʿqilūna
you use intellect
وَٱلَّذِينَ يُمَسِّكُونَ بِٱلْكِتَـٰبِ وَأَقَامُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٲةَ إِنَّا لَا نُضِيعُ أَجْرَ ٱلْمُصْلِحِينَ ﴿١٧٠﴾
Word-by-word
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhīna
And those who
يُمَسِّكُونَ
yumassikūna
hold fast
بِٱلْكِتَـٰبِ
bil-kitābi
to the Book
وَأَقَامُوا۟
wa-aqāmū
and establish
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
l-ṣalata
the prayer
إِنَّا
innā
indeed, We
لَا
lā
(will) not
نُضِيعُ
nuḍīʿu
[We] let go waste
أَجْرَ
ajra
(the) reward
ٱلْمُصْلِحِينَ
l-muṣ'liḥīna
(of) the reformers
۞ وَإِذْ نَتَقْنَا ٱلْجَبَلَ فَوْقَهُمْ كَأَنَّهُۥ ظُلَّةٌ وَظَنُّوٓاْ أَنَّهُۥ وَاقِعُۢ بِهِمْ خُذُواْ مَآ ءَاتَيْنَـٰكُم بِقُوَّةٍ وَٱذْكُرُواْ مَا فِيهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ ﴿١٧١﴾

۞ وَإِذْ
wa-idh
And when
نَتَقْنَا
nataqnā
We raised
ٱلْجَبَلَ
l-jabala
the mountain
فَوْقَهُمْ
fawqahum
above them
كَأَنَّهُۥ
ka-annahu
as if it was
ظُلَّةٌۭ
ẓullatun
a canopy
وَظَنُّوٓا۟
waẓannū
and they thought
أَنَّهُۥ
annahu
that it
وَاقِعٌۢ
wāqiʿun
(would) fall
بِهِمْ
bihim
upon them
خُذُوا۟
khudhū
(We said), "Take
مَآ
mā
what
ءَاتَيْنَـٰكُم
ātaynākum
We have given you
بِقُوَّةٍۢ
biquwwatin
with strength
وَٱذْكُرُوا۟
wa-udh'kurū
and remember
مَا
mā
what
فِيهِ
fīhi
(is) in it
لَعَلَّكُمْ
laʿallakum
so that you may
تَتَّقُونَ
tattaqūna
fear Allah
وَإِذْ أَخَذَ رَبُّكَ مِنۢ بَنِىٓ ءَادَمَ مِن ظُهُورِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ وَأَشْهَدَهُمْ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ أَلَسْتُ بِرَبِّكُمْۖ قَالُواْ بَلَىٰۛ شَهِدْنَآۛ أَن تَقُولُواْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ إِنَّا كُنَّا عَنْ هَـٰذَا غَـٰفِلِينَ ﴿١٧٢﴾

And when
أَخَذَ
akhadha
(was) taken
رَبُّكَ
rabbuka
(by) your Lord
مِنۢ
min
from
بَنِىٓ
banī
(the) Children
ءَادَمَ
ādama
(of) Adam
مِن

from
ظُهُورِهِمْ
ẓuhūrihim
their loins
ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ
dhurriyyatahum
their descendants
وَأَشْهَدَهُمْ
wa-ashhadahum
and made them testify
عَلَىٰٓ
ʿalā
over
أَنفُسِهِمْ
anfusihim
themselves
أَلَسْتُ
alastu
Am I not
بِرَبِّكُمْ ۖ
birabbikum
your Lord
قَالُوا۟
qālū
They said
بَلَىٰ ۛ
balā
Yes
شَهِدْنَآ ۛ
shahid'nā
we have testified
أَن
an
Lest
تَقُولُوا۟
taqūlū
you say
يَوْمَ
yawma
(on the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ
l-qiyāmati
(of) the Resurrection
إِنَّا
innā
Indeed
كُنَّا
kunnā
we were
عَنْ
ʿan
about
هَـٰذَا
hādhā
this
غَـٰفِلِينَ
ghāfilīna
unaware
أَوْ تَقُولُوٓاْ إِنَّمَآ أَشْرَكَ ءَابَآؤُنَا مِن قَبْلُ وَكُنَّا ذُرِّيَّةً مِّنۢ بَعْدِهِمْۖ أَفَتُهْلِكُنَا بِمَا فَعَلَ ٱلْمُبْطِلُونَ ﴿١٧٣﴾

أَوْ
aw
Or
تَقُولُوٓا۟
taqūlū
you say
إِنَّمَآ
innamā
Only
أَشْرَكَ
ashraka
partners (were) associated (with Allah)
ءَابَآؤُنَا
ābāunā
(by) our forefathers
مِن
min
from
قَبْلُ
qablu
before (us)
وَكُنَّا
wakunnā
and we are
ذُرِّيَّةًۭ
dhurriyyatan
descendants
مِّنۢ
min
from
بَعْدِهِمْ ۖ
baʿdihim
after them
أَفَتُهْلِكُنَا
afatuh'likunā
So will You destroy us
بِمَا
bimā
for what
فَعَلَ
faʿala
did
ٱلْمُبْطِلُونَ
l-mub'ṭilūna
the falsifiers
وَكَذَٲلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ ٱلْأَيَـٰتِ وَلَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ ﴿١٧٤﴾

وَكَذَٰلِكَ
wakadhālika
And thus
نُفَصِّلُ
nufaṣṣilu
We explain
ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ
l-āyāti
the Verses
وَلَعَلَّهُمْ
walaʿallahum
so that they may
يَرْجِعُونَ
yarjiʿūna
return
وَٱتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ ٱلَّذِىٓ ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ ءَايَـٰتِنَا فَٱنسَلَخَ مِنْهَا فَأَتْبَعَهُ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ فَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلْغَاوِينَ ﴿١٧٥﴾

وَٱتْلُ
wa-ut'lu
And recite
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhim
to them
نَبَأَ
naba-a
(the) story
ٱلَّذِىٓ
alladhī
(of the) one whom
ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ
ātaynāhu
We gave [him]
ءَايَـٰتِنَا
āyātinā

فَٱنسَلَخَ
fa-insalakha
but he detached
مِنْهَا
min'hā
[from] them
فَأَتْبَعَهُ
fa-atbaʿahu
so followed him
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ
l-shayṭānu
the Shaitaan
فَكَانَ
fakāna
and he became
مِنَ
mina
of
ٱلْغَاوِينَ
l-ghāwīna
those gone astray
