الأنعام
126

وَهَـٰذَا صِرَٲطُ رَبِّكَ مُسْتَقِيمًا‌ۗ قَدْ فَصَّلْنَا ٱلْأَيَـٰتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَذَّكَّرُونَ ﴿١٢٦﴾

Mot à mot

وَهَـٰذَا

wahādhā

And this

صِرَٰطُ

ṣirāṭu

(is the) way

رَبِّكَ

rabbika

(of) your Lord

مُسْتَقِيمًۭا ۗ

mus'taqīman

straight

قَدْ

qad

Certainly

فَصَّلْنَا

faṣṣalnā

We have detailed

ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ

l-āyāti

the Verses

لِقَوْمٍۢ

liqawmin

for a people

يَذَّكَّرُونَ

yadhakkarūna

who take heed

127

۞ لَهُمْ دَارُ ٱلسَّلَـٰمِ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ‌ۖ وَهُوَ وَلِيُّهُم بِمَا كَانُواْ يَعْمَلُونَ ﴿١٢٧﴾

Mot à mot

۞ لَهُمْ

lahum

For them

دَارُ

dāru

(will be) home

ٱلسَّلَـٰمِ

l-salāmi

(of) [the] peace

عِندَ

ʿinda

with

رَبِّهِمْ ۖ

rabbihim

their Lord

وَهُوَ

wahuwa

And He

وَلِيُّهُم

waliyyuhum

(will be) their protecting friend

بِمَا

bimā

because

كَانُوا۟

kānū

(of what) they used to

يَعْمَلُونَ

yaʿmalūna

do

128

وَيَوْمَ يَحْشُرُهُمْ جَمِيعًا يَـٰمَعْشَرَ ٱلْجِنِّ قَدِ ٱسْتَكْثَرْتُم مِّنَ ٱلْإِنسِ‌ۖ وَقَالَ أَوْلِيَآؤُهُم مِّنَ ٱلْإِنسِ رَبَّنَا ٱسْتَمْتَعَ بَعْضُنَا بِبَعْضٍ وَبَلَغْنَآ أَجَلَنَا ٱلَّذِىٓ أَجَّلْتَ لَنَا‌ۚ قَالَ ٱلنَّارُ مَثْوَٮٰكُمْ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ‌ۗ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ حَكِيمٌ عَلِيمٌ ﴿١٢٨﴾

Mot à mot

وَيَوْمَ

wayawma

And (the) Day

يَحْشُرُهُمْ

yaḥshuruhum

He will gather them

جَمِيعًۭا

jamīʿan

all

يَـٰمَعْشَرَ

yāmaʿshara

(and will say), "O assembly

ٱلْجِنِّ

l-jini

(of) [the] jinn

قَدِ

qadi

Certainly

ٱسْتَكْثَرْتُم

is'takthartum

you have (misled) many

مِّنَ

mina

of

ٱلْإِنسِ ۖ

l-insi

the mankind

وَقَالَ

waqāla

And will say

أَوْلِيَآؤُهُم

awliyāuhum

their friends

مِّنَ

mina

among

ٱلْإِنسِ

l-insi

the men

رَبَّنَا

rabbanā

Our Lord

ٱسْتَمْتَعَ

is'tamtaʿa

profited

بَعْضُنَا

baʿḍunā

some of us

بِبَعْضٍۢ

bibaʿḍin

by others

وَبَلَغْنَآ

wabalaghnā

and we have reached

أَجَلَنَا

ajalanā

our term

ٱلَّذِىٓ

alladhī

which

أَجَّلْتَ

ajjalta

You appointed

لَنَا ۚ

lanā

for us

قَالَ

qāla

He will say

ٱلنَّارُ

l-nāru

The Fire

مَثْوَىٰكُمْ

mathwākum

(is) your abode

خَـٰلِدِينَ

khālidīna

will abide forever

فِيهَآ

fīhā

in it

إِلَّا

illā

except

مَا

(for) what

شَآءَ

shāa

wills

ٱللَّهُ ۗ

l-lahu

Allah

إِنَّ

inna

Indeed

رَبَّكَ

rabbaka

your Lord

حَكِيمٌ

ḥakīmun

(is) All-Wise

عَلِيمٌۭ

ʿalīmun

All-Knowing

129

وَكَذَٲلِكَ نُوَلِّى بَعْضَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ بَعْضَۢا بِمَا كَانُواْ يَكْسِبُونَ ﴿١٢٩﴾

Mot à mot

وَكَذَٰلِكَ

wakadhālika

And thus

نُوَلِّى

nuwallī

We make friends

بَعْضَ

baʿḍa

some (of)

ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

l-ẓālimīna

the wrongdoers

بَعْضًۢا

baʿḍan

(to) others

بِمَا

bimā

for what

كَانُوا۟

kānū

they used to

يَكْسِبُونَ

yaksibūna

earn

130

يَـٰمَعْشَرَ ٱلْجِنِّ وَٱلْإِنسِ أَلَمْ يَأْتِكُمْ رُسُلٌ مِّنكُمْ يَقُصُّونَ عَلَيْكُمْ ءَايَـٰتِى وَيُنذِرُونَكُمْ لِقَآءَ يَوْمِكُمْ هَـٰذَا‌ۚ قَالُواْ شَهِدْنَا عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِنَا‌ۖ وَغَرَّتْهُمُ ٱلْحَيَوٲةُ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَشَهِدُواْ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ أَنَّهُمْ كَانُواْ كَـٰفِرِينَ ﴿١٣٠﴾

Mot à mot

يَـٰمَعْشَرَ

yāmaʿshara

O assembly

ٱلْجِنِّ

l-jini

(of) [the] jinn

وَٱلْإِنسِ

wal-insi

and [the] men

أَلَمْ

alam

Did (there) not

يَأْتِكُمْ

yatikum

come to you

رُسُلٌۭ

rusulun

Messengers

مِّنكُمْ

minkum

from (among) you

يَقُصُّونَ

yaquṣṣūna

relating

عَلَيْكُمْ

ʿalaykum

to you

ءَايَـٰتِى

āyātī

My Verses

وَيُنذِرُونَكُمْ

wayundhirūnakum

and warning you

لِقَآءَ

liqāa

(of the) meeting

يَوْمِكُمْ

yawmikum

(of) your day

هَـٰذَا ۚ

hādhā

this

قَالُوا۟

qālū

They will say

شَهِدْنَا

shahid'nā

We bear witness

عَلَىٰٓ

ʿalā

against

أَنفُسِنَا ۖ

anfusinā

ourselves

وَغَرَّتْهُمُ

wagharrathumu

And deluded them

ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ

l-ḥayatu

the life

ٱلدُّنْيَا

l-dun'yā

(of) the world

وَشَهِدُوا۟

washahidū

and they will bear witness

عَلَىٰٓ

ʿalā

against

أَنفُسِهِمْ

anfusihim

themselves

أَنَّهُمْ

annahum

that they

كَانُوا۟

kānū

were

كَـٰفِرِينَ

kāfirīna

disbelievers

131

ذَٲلِكَ أَن لَّمْ يَكُن رَّبُّكَ مُهْلِكَ ٱلْقُرَىٰ بِظُلْمٍ وَأَهْلُهَا غَـٰفِلُونَ ﴿١٣١﴾

Mot à mot

ذَٰلِكَ

dhālika

That (is because)

أَن

an

[that]

لَّمْ

lam

not

يَكُن

yakun

is

رَّبُّكَ

rabbuka

your Lord

مُهْلِكَ

muh'lika

one who destroys

ٱلْقُرَىٰ

l-qurā

the cities

بِظُلْمٍۢ

biẓul'min

for (their) wrongdoing

وَأَهْلُهَا

wa-ahluhā

while their people

غَـٰفِلُونَ

ghāfilūna

(are) unaware

132

وَلِكُلٍّ دَرَجَـٰتٌ مِّمَّا عَمِلُواْ‌ۚ وَمَا رَبُّكَ بِغَـٰفِلٍ عَمَّا يَعْمَلُونَ ﴿١٣٢﴾

Mot à mot

وَلِكُلٍّۢ

walikullin

And for all

دَرَجَـٰتٌۭ

darajātun

(will be) degrees

مِّمَّا

mimmā

for what

عَمِلُوا۟ ۚ

ʿamilū

they did

وَمَا

wamā

And not

رَبُّكَ

rabbuka

(is) your Lord

بِغَـٰفِلٍ

bighāfilin

unaware

عَمَّا

ʿammā

about what

يَعْمَلُونَ

yaʿmalūna

they do

133

وَرَبُّكَ ٱلْغَنِىُّ ذُو ٱلرَّحْمَةِ‌ۚ إِن يَشَأْ يُذْهِبْكُمْ وَيَسْتَخْلِفْ مِنۢ بَعْدِكُم مَّا يَشَآءُ كَمَآ أَنشَأَكُم مِّن ذُرِّيَّةِ قَوْمٍ ءَاخَرِينَ ﴿١٣٣﴾

Mot à mot

وَرَبُّكَ

warabbuka

And your Lord

ٱلْغَنِىُّ

l-ghaniyu

(is) the Self-Sufficient

ذُو

dhū

(the) Possessor

ٱلرَّحْمَةِ ۚ

l-raḥmati

(of) mercy

إِن

in

If

يَشَأْ

yasha

He wills

يُذْهِبْكُمْ

yudh'hib'kum

He can take you away

وَيَسْتَخْلِفْ

wayastakhlif

and grant succession

مِنۢ

min

from

بَعْدِكُم

baʿdikum

after you

مَّا

(to) whom

يَشَآءُ

yashāu

He wills

كَمَآ

kamā

as

أَنشَأَكُم

ansha-akum

He raised you

مِّن

min

from

ذُرِّيَّةِ

dhurriyyati

the descendants

قَوْمٍ

qawmin

(of) people

ءَاخَرِينَ

ākharīna

other

134

إِنَّ مَا تُوعَدُونَ لَأَتٍ‌ۖ وَمَآ أَنتُم بِمُعْجِزِينَ ﴿١٣٤﴾

Mot à mot

إِنَّ

inna

Indeed

مَا

what

تُوعَدُونَ

tūʿadūna

you are promised

لَـَٔاتٍۢ ۖ

laātin

(is) sure to come

وَمَآ

wamā

And not

أَنتُم

antum

(can) you

بِمُعْجِزِينَ

bimuʿ'jizīna

escape (it)

135

قُلْ يَـٰقَوْمِ ٱعْمَلُواْ عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِكُمْ إِنِّى عَامِلٌ‌ۖ فَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ مَن تَكُونُ لَهُۥ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلدَّارِ‌ۗ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُفْلِحُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ ﴿١٣٥﴾

Mot à mot

قُلْ

qul

Say

يَـٰقَوْمِ

yāqawmi

O my people

ٱعْمَلُوا۟

iʿ'malū

Work

عَلَىٰ

ʿalā

on

مَكَانَتِكُمْ

makānatikum

your position

إِنِّى

innī

Indeed, I am

عَامِلٌۭ ۖ

ʿāmilun

a worker

فَسَوْفَ

fasawfa

And soon

تَعْلَمُونَ

taʿlamūna

you will know

مَن

man

who

تَكُونُ

takūnu

will have

لَهُۥ

lahu

for himself

عَـٰقِبَةُ

ʿāqibatu

(in) the end

ٱلدَّارِ ۗ

l-dāri

(a good) home

إِنَّهُۥ

innahu

Indeed [he]

لَا

(will) not

يُفْلِحُ

yuf'liḥu

succeed

ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ

l-ẓālimūna

the wrongdoers

136

وَجَعَلُواْ لِلَّهِ مِمَّا ذَرَأَ مِنَ ٱلْحَرْثِ وَٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ نَصِيبًا فَقَالُواْ هَـٰذَا لِلَّهِ بِزَعْمِهِمْ وَهَـٰذَا لِشُرَكَآئِنَا‌ۖ فَمَا كَانَ لِشُرَكَآئِهِمْ فَلَا يَصِلُ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ‌ۖ وَمَا كَانَ لِلَّهِ فَهُوَ يَصِلُ إِلَىٰ شُرَكَآئِهِمْ‌ۗ سَآءَ مَا يَحْكُمُونَ ﴿١٣٦﴾

Mot à mot

وَجَعَلُوا۟

wajaʿalū

And they assign

لِلَّهِ

lillahi

to Allah

مِمَّا

mimmā

out of what

ذَرَأَ

dhara-a

He produced

مِنَ

mina

of

ٱلْحَرْثِ

l-ḥarthi

the crops

وَٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ

wal-anʿāmi

and the cattle

نَصِيبًۭا

naṣīban

a share

فَقَالُوا۟

faqālū

and they say

هَـٰذَا

hādhā

This

لِلَّهِ

lillahi

(is) for Allah

بِزَعْمِهِمْ

bizaʿmihim

by their claim

وَهَـٰذَا

wahādhā

And this

لِشُرَكَآئِنَا ۖ

lishurakāinā

(is) for our partners

فَمَا

famā

But what

كَانَ

kāna

is

لِشُرَكَآئِهِمْ

lishurakāihim

for their partners

فَلَا

falā

(does) not

يَصِلُ

yaṣilu

reach

إِلَى

ilā

[to]

ٱللَّهِ ۖ

l-lahi

Allah

وَمَا

wamā

while what

كَانَ

kāna

is

لِلَّهِ

lillahi

for Allah

فَهُوَ

fahuwa

then it

يَصِلُ

yaṣilu

reaches

إِلَىٰ

ilā

[to]

شُرَكَآئِهِمْ ۗ

shurakāihim

their partners

سَآءَ

sāa

Evil

مَا

(is) what

يَحْكُمُونَ

yaḥkumūna

they judge

137

وَكَذَٲلِكَ زَيَّنَ لِكَثِيرٍ مِّنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ قَتْلَ أَوْلَـٰدِهِمْ شُرَكَآؤُهُمْ لِيُرْدُوهُمْ وَلِيَلْبِسُواْ عَلَيْهِمْ دِينَهُمْ‌ۖ وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مَا فَعَلُوهُ‌ۖ فَذَرْهُمْ وَمَا يَفْتَرُونَ ﴿١٣٧﴾

Mot à mot

وَكَذَٰلِكَ

wakadhālika

And likewise

زَيَّنَ

zayyana

made pleasing

لِكَثِيرٍۢ

likathīrin

to many

مِّنَ

mina

of

ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ

l-mush'rikīna

the polytheists

قَتْلَ

qatla

(the) killing

أَوْلَـٰدِهِمْ

awlādihim

(of) their children

شُرَكَآؤُهُمْ

shurakāuhum

their partners

لِيُرْدُوهُمْ

liyur'dūhum

so that they may ruin them

وَلِيَلْبِسُوا۟

waliyalbisū

and that they make confusing

عَلَيْهِمْ

ʿalayhim

to them

دِينَهُمْ ۖ

dīnahum

their religion

وَلَوْ

walaw

And if

شَآءَ

shāa

(had) willed

ٱللَّهُ

l-lahu

Allah

مَا

not

فَعَلُوهُ ۖ

faʿalūhu

(would) they have done so

فَذَرْهُمْ

fadharhum

So leave them

وَمَا

wamā

and what

يَفْتَرُونَ

yaftarūna

they invent

138

وَقَالُواْ هَـٰذِهِۦٓ أَنْعَـٰمٌ وَحَرْثٌ حِجْرٌ لَّا يَطْعَمُهَآ إِلَّا مَن نَّشَآءُ بِزَعْمِهِمْ وَأَنْعَـٰمٌ حُرِّمَتْ ظُهُورُهَا وَأَنْعَـٰمٌ لَّا يَذْكُرُونَ ٱسْمَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْهَا ٱفْتِرَآءً عَلَيْهِ‌ۚ سَيَجْزِيهِم بِمَا كَانُواْ يَفْتَرُونَ ﴿١٣٨﴾

Mot à mot

وَقَالُوا۟

waqālū

And they say

هَـٰذِهِۦٓ

hādhihi

These

أَنْعَـٰمٌۭ

anʿāmun

(are) cattle

وَحَرْثٌ

waḥarthun

and crops

حِجْرٌۭ

ḥij'run

forbidden

لَّا

no (one)

يَطْعَمُهَآ

yaṭʿamuhā

can eat them

إِلَّا

illā

except

مَن

man

whom

نَّشَآءُ

nashāu

we will

بِزَعْمِهِمْ

bizaʿmihim

by their claim

وَأَنْعَـٰمٌ

wa-anʿāmun

And cattle

حُرِّمَتْ

ḥurrimat

forbidden

ظُهُورُهَا

ẓuhūruhā

(are) their backs

وَأَنْعَـٰمٌۭ

wa-anʿāmun

and cattle

لَّا

not

يَذْكُرُونَ

yadhkurūna

they mention

ٱسْمَ

is'ma

(the) name

ٱللَّهِ

l-lahi

(of) Allah

عَلَيْهَا

ʿalayhā

on it

ٱفْتِرَآءً

if'tirāan

(as) an invention

عَلَيْهِ ۚ

ʿalayhi

against Him

سَيَجْزِيهِم

sayajzīhim

He will recompense them

بِمَا

bimā

for what

كَانُوا۟

kānū

they used to

يَفْتَرُونَ

yaftarūna

invent

139

وَقَالُواْ مَا فِى بُطُونِ هَـٰذِهِ ٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ خَالِصَةٌ لِّذُكُورِنَا وَمُحَرَّمٌ عَلَىٰٓ أَزْوَٲجِنَا‌ۖ وَإِن يَكُن مَّيْتَةً فَهُمْ فِيهِ شُرَكَآءُ‌ۚ سَيَجْزِيهِمْ وَصْفَهُمْ‌ۚ إِنَّهُۥ حَكِيمٌ عَلِيمٌ ﴿١٣٩﴾

وَقَالُوا۟

waqālū

And they say

مَا

What

فِى

(is) in

بُطُونِ

buṭūni

(the) wombs

هَـٰذِهِ

hādhihi

(of) these

ٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ

l-anʿāmi

cattle

خَالِصَةٌۭ

khāliṣatun

(is) exclusively

لِّذُكُورِنَا

lidhukūrinā

for our males

وَمُحَرَّمٌ

wamuḥarramun

and forbidden

عَلَىٰٓ

ʿalā

on

أَزْوَٰجِنَا ۖ

azwājinā

our spouses

وَإِن

wa-in

But if

يَكُن

yakun

is

مَّيْتَةًۭ

maytatan

(born) dead

فَهُمْ

fahum

then they (all)

فِيهِ

fīhi

in it

شُرَكَآءُ ۚ

shurakāu

(are) partners

سَيَجْزِيهِمْ

sayajzīhim

He will recompense them

وَصْفَهُمْ ۚ

waṣfahum

(for) their attribution

إِنَّهُۥ

innahu

Indeed, He

حَكِيمٌ

ḥakīmun

(is) All-Wise

عَلِيمٌۭ

ʿalīmun

All-Knowing

140

قَدْ خَسِرَ ٱلَّذِينَ قَتَلُوٓاْ أَوْلَـٰدَهُمْ سَفَهَۢا بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ وَحَرَّمُواْ مَا رَزَقَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ ٱفْتِرَآءً عَلَى ٱللَّهِ‌ۚ قَدْ ضَلُّواْ وَمَا كَانُواْ مُهْتَدِينَ ﴿١٤٠﴾

Mot à mot

قَدْ

qad

Certainly

خَسِرَ

khasira

(are) lost

ٱلَّذِينَ

alladhīna

those who

قَتَلُوٓا۟

qatalū

killed

أَوْلَـٰدَهُمْ

awlādahum

their children

سَفَهًۢا

safahan

(in) foolishness

بِغَيْرِ

bighayri

without

عِلْمٍۢ

ʿil'min

knowledge

وَحَرَّمُوا۟

waḥarramū

and forbid

مَا

what

رَزَقَهُمُ

razaqahumu

(bas been) provided (to) them

ٱللَّهُ

l-lahu

(by) Allah

ٱفْتِرَآءً

if'tirāan

inventing (lies)

عَلَى

ʿalā

against

ٱللَّهِ ۚ

l-lahi

Allah

قَدْ

qad

Certainly

ضَلُّوا۟

ḍallū

they have gone astray

وَمَا

wamā

and not

كَانُوا۟

kānū

they are

مُهْتَدِينَ

muh'tadīna

guided-ones

141

۞ وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنشَأَ جَنَّـٰتٍ مَّعْرُوشَـٰتٍ وَغَيْرَ مَعْرُوشَـٰتٍ وَٱلنَّخْلَ وَٱلزَّرْعَ مُخْتَلِفًا أُكُلُهُۥ وَٱلزَّيْتُونَ وَٱلرُّمَّانَ مُتَشَـٰبِهًا وَغَيْرَ مُتَشَـٰبِهٍ‌ۚ كُلُواْ مِن ثَمَرِهِۦٓ إِذَآ أَثْمَرَ وَءَاتُواْ حَقَّهُۥ يَوْمَ حَصَادِهِۦ‌ۖ وَلَا تُسْرِفُوٓاْ‌ۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ ﴿١٤١﴾

Mot à mot

۞ وَهُوَ

wahuwa

And He

ٱلَّذِىٓ

alladhī

(is) the One Who

أَنشَأَ

ansha-a

produced

جَنَّـٰتٍۢ

jannātin

gardens

مَّعْرُوشَـٰتٍۢ

maʿrūshātin

trellised

وَغَيْرَ

waghayra

and other than

مَعْرُوشَـٰتٍۢ

maʿrūshātin

trellised

وَٱلنَّخْلَ

wal-nakhla

and the date-palm

وَٱلزَّرْعَ

wal-zarʿa

and the crops

مُخْتَلِفًا

mukh'talifan

diverse

أُكُلُهُۥ

ukuluhu

(are) its taste

وَٱلزَّيْتُونَ

wal-zaytūna

and the olives

وَٱلرُّمَّانَ

wal-rumāna

and the pomegranates

مُتَشَـٰبِهًۭا

mutashābihan

similar

وَغَيْرَ

waghayra

and other than

مُتَشَـٰبِهٍۢ ۚ

mutashābihin

similar

كُلُوا۟

kulū

Eat

مِن

min

of

ثَمَرِهِۦٓ

thamarihi

its fruit

إِذَآ

idhā

when

أَثْمَرَ

athmara

it bears fruit

وَءَاتُوا۟

waātū

and give

حَقَّهُۥ

ḥaqqahu

its due

يَوْمَ

yawma

(on the) day

حَصَادِهِۦ ۖ

ḥaṣādihi

(of) its harvest

وَلَا

walā

And (do) not

تُسْرِفُوٓا۟ ۚ

tus'rifū

(be) extravagant

إِنَّهُۥ

innahu

Indeed, He

لَا

(does) not

يُحِبُّ

yuḥibbu

love

ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ

l-mus'rifīna

the ones who are extravagant

142

وَمِنَ ٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ حَمُولَةً وَفَرْشًا‌ۚ كُلُواْ مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُواْ خُطُوَٲتِ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ‌ۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ مُّبِينٌ ﴿١٤٢﴾

Mot à mot

وَمِنَ

wamina

And of

ٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ

l-anʿāmi

the cattle

حَمُولَةًۭ

ḥamūlatan

(are some for) burden

وَفَرْشًۭا ۚ

wafarshan

and (some for) meat

كُلُوا۟

kulū

Eat

مِمَّا

mimmā

of what

razaqakumu

(has been) provided (to) you

ٱللَّهُ

l-lahu

(by) Allah

وَلَا

walā

and (do) not

تَتَّبِعُوا۟

tattabiʿū

follow

خُطُوَٰتِ

khuṭuwāti

(the) footsteps

ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ ۚ

l-shayṭāni

(of) Shaitaan

إِنَّهُۥ

innahu

Indeed, he

لَكُمْ

lakum

(is) to you

عَدُوٌّۭ

ʿaduwwun

an enemy

مُّبِينٌۭ

mubīnun

open

143

ثَمَـٰنِيَةَ أَزْوَٲجٍ‌ۖ مِّنَ ٱلضَّأْنِ ٱثْنَيْنِ وَمِنَ ٱلْمَعْزِ ٱثْنَيْنِ‌ۗ قُلْ ءَآلذَّكَرَيْنِ حَرَّمَ أَمِ ٱلْأُنثَيَيْنِ أَمَّا ٱشْتَمَلَتْ عَلَيْهِ أَرْحَامُ ٱلْأُنثَيَيْنِ‌ۖ نَبِّــُٔونِى بِعِلْمٍ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ ﴿١٤٣﴾

ثَمَـٰنِيَةَ

thamāniyata

Eight

أَزْوَٰجٍۢ ۖ

azwājin

pairs

مِّنَ

mina

of

ٱلضَّأْنِ

l-ḍani

the sheep

ٱثْنَيْنِ

ith'nayni

two

وَمِنَ

wamina

and of

ٱلْمَعْزِ

l-maʿzi

the goats

ٱثْنَيْنِ ۗ

ith'nayni

two

قُلْ

qul

Say

ءَآلذَّكَرَيْنِ

āldhakarayni

(Are) the two males

حَرَّمَ

ḥarrama

He has forbidden

أَمِ

ami

or

ٱلْأُنثَيَيْنِ

l-unthayayni

the two females

أَمَّا

ammā

or what

ٱشْتَمَلَتْ

ish'tamalat

contains

عَلَيْهِ

ʿalayhi

[in it]

أَرْحَامُ

arḥāmu

(the) wombs

ٱلْأُنثَيَيْنِ ۖ

l-unthayayni

(of) the two females

نَبِّـُٔونِى

nabbiūnī

Inform me

بِعِلْمٍ

biʿil'min

with knowledge

إِن

in

if

كُنتُمْ

kuntum

you are

صَـٰدِقِينَ

ṣādiqīna

truthful

144

وَمِنَ ٱلْإِبِلِ ٱثْنَيْنِ وَمِنَ ٱلْبَقَرِ ٱثْنَيْنِ‌ۗ قُلْ ءَآلذَّكَرَيْنِ حَرَّمَ أَمِ ٱلْأُنثَيَيْنِ أَمَّا ٱشْتَمَلَتْ عَلَيْهِ أَرْحَامُ ٱلْأُنثَيَيْنِ‌ۖ أَمْ كُنتُمْ شُهَدَآءَ إِذْ وَصَّـٰكُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِهَـٰذَا‌ۚ فَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ ٱفْتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًا لِّيُضِلَّ ٱلنَّاسَ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ‌ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ ﴿١٤٤﴾

ٱلْإِبِلِ

the camels

ٱثْنَيْنِ

ith'nayni

two

وَمِنَ

and of

ٱلْبَقَرِ

the cows

ٱثْنَيْنِ ۗ

ith'nayni

قُلْ

qul

Say

ءَآلذَّكَرَيْنِ

āldhakarayni

(Is it) the two males

حَرَّمَ

ḥarrama

He (has) forbidden

أَمِ

ami

or

ٱلْأُنثَيَيْنِ

l-unthayayni

the two females

أَمَّا

ammā

or what

ٱشْتَمَلَتْ

ish'tamalat

contains

عَلَيْهِ

ʿalayhi

[in it]

أَرْحَامُ

arḥāmu

(the) wombs

ٱلْأُنثَيَيْنِ ۖ

l-unthayayni

(of) the two females

أَمْ

am

Or

كُنتُمْ

kuntum

were you

شُهَدَآءَ

shuhadāa

witnesses

إِذْ

idh

when

وَصَّىٰكُمُ

waṣṣākumu

enjoined you

ٱللَّهُ

l-lahu

Allah

بِهَـٰذَا ۚ

bihādhā

with this

فَمَنْ

faman

Then who

أَظْلَمُ

aẓlamu

(is) more unjust

مِمَّنِ

mimmani

than (one) who

ٱفْتَرَىٰ

if'tarā

invents

عَلَى

ʿalā

against

ٱللَّهِ

l-lahi

Allah

كَذِبًۭا

kadhiban

a lie

لِّيُضِلَّ

liyuḍilla

to mislead

ٱلنَّاسَ

l-nāsa

the people

بِغَيْرِ

bighayri

without

عِلْمٍ ۗ

ʿil'min

knowledge

إِنَّ

inna

Indeed

ٱللَّهَ

l-laha

Allah

لَا

(does) not

يَهْدِى

yahdī

guide

ٱلْقَوْمَ

l-qawma

the people

ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

l-ẓālimīna

the wrongdoing

145

قُل لَّآ أَجِدُ فِى مَآ أُوحِىَ إِلَىَّ مُحَرَّمًا عَلَىٰ طَاعِمٍ يَطْعَمُهُۥٓ إِلَّآ أَن يَكُونَ مَيْتَةً أَوْ دَمًا مَّسْفُوحًا أَوْ لَحْمَ خِنزِيرٍ فَإِنَّهُۥ رِجْسٌ أَوْ فِسْقًا أُهِلَّ لِغَيْرِ ٱللَّهِ بِهِۦ‌ۚ فَمَنِ ٱضْطُرَّ غَيْرَ بَاغٍ وَلَا عَادٍ فَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ ﴿١٤٥﴾

أَجِدُ

(do) I find

فِى

in

مَآ

what

أُوحِىَ

ūḥiya

has been revealed

إِلَىَّ

ilayya

to me

مُحَرَّمًا

muḥarraman

(anything) forbidden

عَلَىٰ

ʿalā

to

طَاعِمٍۢ

ṭāʿimin

an eater

يَطْعَمُهُۥٓ

yaṭʿamuhu

who eats it

إِلَّآ

illā

except

أَن

an

that

يَكُونَ

yakūna

it be

مَيْتَةً

maytatan

dead

أَوْ

aw

or

دَمًۭا

daman

blood

مَّسْفُوحًا

masfūḥan

poured forth

أَوْ

aw

or

لَحْمَ

laḥma

(the) flesh

خِنزِيرٍۢ

khinzīrin

(of) swine

فَإِنَّهُۥ

fa-innahu

for indeed, it

رِجْسٌ

rij'sun

(is) filth

أَوْ

aw

or

فِسْقًا

fis'qan

(it be) disobedience

أُهِلَّ

uhilla

[is] dedicated

لِغَيْرِ

lighayri

to other than

ٱللَّهِ

l-lahi

Allah

بِهِۦ ۚ

bihi

[on it]

فَمَنِ

famani

But whoever

ٱضْطُرَّ

uḍ'ṭurra

(is) compelled

غَيْرَ

ghayra

not

بَاغٍۢ

bāghin

desiring

وَلَا

walā

and not

عَادٍۢ

ʿādin

transgressing

فَإِنَّ

fa-inna

then indeed

رَبَّكَ

rabbaka

your Lord

غَفُورٌۭ

ghafūrun

(is) Oft-Forgiving

رَّحِيمٌۭ

raḥīmun

Most Merciful

146

وَعَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ هَادُواْ حَرَّمْنَا كُلَّ ذِى ظُفُرٍ‌ۖ وَمِنَ ٱلْبَقَرِ وَٱلْغَنَمِ حَرَّمْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ شُحُومَهُمَآ إِلَّا مَا حَمَلَتْ ظُهُورُهُمَآ أَوِ ٱلْحَوَايَآ أَوْ مَا ٱخْتَلَطَ بِعَظْمٍ‌ۚ ذَٲلِكَ جَزَيْنَـٰهُم بِبَغْيِهِمْ‌ۖ وَإِنَّا لَصَـٰدِقُونَ ﴿١٤٦﴾

وَعَلَى

waʿalā

And to

ٱلَّذِينَ

alladhīna

those who

هَادُوا۟

hādū

are Jews

حَرَّمْنَا

ḥarramnā

We forbade

كُلَّ

kulla

every

ذِى

dhī

(animal) with

ظُفُرٍۢ ۖ

ẓufurin

claws

وَمِنَ

wamina

and of

ٱلْبَقَرِ

l-baqari

the cows

وَٱلْغَنَمِ

wal-ghanami

and the sheep

حَرَّمْنَا

ḥarramnā

We forbade

عَلَيْهِمْ

ʿalayhim

to them

شُحُومَهُمَآ

shuḥūmahumā

their fat

إِلَّا

illā

except

مَا

what

حَمَلَتْ

ḥamalat

carried

ظُهُورُهُمَآ

ẓuhūruhumā

their backs

أَوِ

awi

or

ٱلْحَوَايَآ

l-ḥawāyā

the entrails

أَوْ

aw

or

مَا

what

ٱخْتَلَطَ

ikh'talaṭa

(is) joined

بِعَظْمٍۢ ۚ

biʿaẓmin

with the bone

ذَٰلِكَ

dhālika

That

جَزَيْنَـٰهُم

jazaynāhum

(is) their recompense

بِبَغْيِهِمْ ۖ

bibaghyihim

for their rebellion

وَإِنَّا

wa-innā

And indeed, We

لَصَـٰدِقُونَ

laṣādiqūna

[surely] are truthful

147

فَإِن كَذَّبُوكَ فَقُل رَّبُّكُمْ ذُو رَحْمَةٍ وَٲسِعَةٍ وَلَا يُرَدُّ بَأْسُهُۥ عَنِ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ ﴿١٤٧﴾

Mot à mot

فَإِن

fa-in

But if

كَذَّبُوكَ

kadhabūka

they deny you

فَقُل

faqul

then say

رَّبُّكُمْ

rabbukum

Your Lord

ذُو

dhū

(is the) Possessor

رَحْمَةٍۢ

raḥmatin

(of) Mercy

وَٰسِعَةٍۢ

wāsiʿatin

Vast

وَلَا

walā

but not

يُرَدُّ

yuraddu

will be turned back

بَأْسُهُۥ

basuhu

His wrath

عَنِ

ʿani

from

ٱلْقَوْمِ

l-qawmi

the people

ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ

l-muj'rimīna

(who are) criminals

148

سَيَقُولُ ٱلَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُواْ لَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مَآ أَشْرَكْنَا وَلَآ ءَابَآؤُنَا وَلَا حَرَّمْنَا مِن شَىْءٍ‌ۚ كَذَٲلِكَ كَذَّبَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ حَتَّىٰ ذَاقُواْ بَأْسَنَا‌ۗ قُلْ هَلْ عِندَكُم مِّنْ عِلْمٍ فَتُخْرِجُوهُ لَنَآ‌ۖ إِن تَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ وَإِنْ أَنتُمْ إِلَّا تَخْرُصُونَ ﴿١٤٨﴾

سَيَقُولُ

sayaqūlu

Will say

ٱلَّذِينَ

alladhīna

those who

أَشْرَكُوا۟

ashrakū

associate partners (with Allah)

لَوْ

law

If

شَآءَ

shāa

Had willed

ٱللَّهُ

l-lahu

Allah

مَآ

not

أَشْرَكْنَا

ashraknā

we (would) have associated partners (with Allah)

وَلَآ

walā

and not

ءَابَآؤُنَا

ābāunā

our forefathers

وَلَا

walā

and not

حَرَّمْنَا

ḥarramnā

we (would) have forbidden

مِن

min

[of]

شَىْءٍۢ ۚ

shayin

anything

كَذَٰلِكَ

kadhālika

Likewise

كَذَّبَ

kadhaba

denied

ٱلَّذِينَ

alladhīna

those who

مِن

min

(were from)

قَبْلِهِمْ

qablihim

before them

حَتَّىٰ

ḥattā

until

ذَاقُوا۟

dhāqū

they tasted

بَأْسَنَا ۗ

basanā

Our wrath

قُلْ

qul

Say

هَلْ

hal

Is

عِندَكُم

ʿindakum

with you

مِّنْ

min

[of]

عِلْمٍۢ

ʿil'min

any knowledge

فَتُخْرِجُوهُ

fatukh'rijūhu

then produce it

لَنَآ ۖ

lanā

for us

إِن

in

Not

تَتَّبِعُونَ

tattabiʿūna

you follow

إِلَّا

illā

except

ٱلظَّنَّ

l-ẓana

the assumption

وَإِنْ

wa-in

and not

أَنتُمْ

antum

you (do)

إِلَّا

illā

but

تَخْرُصُونَ

takhruṣūna

guess

149

قُلْ فَلِلَّهِ ٱلْحُجَّةُ ٱلْبَـٰلِغَةُ‌ۖ فَلَوْ شَآءَ لَهَدَٮٰكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ ﴿١٤٩﴾

Say

فَلِلَّهِ

falillahi

With Allah

ٱلْحُجَّةُ

l-ḥujatu

(is) the argument

ٱلْبَـٰلِغَةُ ۖ

l-bālighatu

the conclusive

فَلَوْ

falaw

And if

شَآءَ

shāa

He (had) willed

لَهَدَىٰكُمْ

lahadākum

surely He (would) have guided you

أَجْمَعِينَ

ajmaʿīna

all

150

قُلْ هَلُمَّ شُهَدَآءَكُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ يَشْهَدُونَ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ حَرَّمَ هَـٰذَا‌ۖ فَإِن شَهِدُواْ فَلَا تَشْهَدْ مَعَهُمْ‌ۚ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَآءَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔـايَـٰتِنَا وَٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلْأَخِرَةِ وَهُم بِرَبِّهِمْ يَعْدِلُونَ ﴿١٥٠﴾

Say

هَلُمَّ

halumma

Bring forward

شُهَدَآءَكُمُ

shuhadāakumu

your witnesses

ٱلَّذِينَ

alladhīna

those who

يَشْهَدُونَ

yashhadūna

testify

أَنَّ

anna

that

ٱللَّهَ

l-laha

Allah

حَرَّمَ

ḥarrama

prohibited

هَـٰذَا ۖ

hādhā

this

فَإِن

fa-in

Then if

شَهِدُوا۟

shahidū

they testify

فَلَا

falā

then (do) not

تَشْهَدْ

tashhad

testify

مَعَهُمْ ۚ

maʿahum

with them

وَلَا

walā

And (do) not

تَتَّبِعْ

tattabiʿ

follow

أَهْوَآءَ

ahwāa

(the) desires

ٱلَّذِينَ

alladhīna

(of) those who

كَذَّبُوا۟

kadhabū

denied

بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا

biāyātinā

Our Signs

وَٱلَّذِينَ

wa-alladhīna

and those who

لَا

(do) not

يُؤْمِنُونَ

yu'minūna

believe

بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ

bil-ākhirati

in the Hereafter

وَهُم

wahum

while they

بِرَبِّهِمْ

birabbihim

with their Lord

يَعْدِلُونَ

yaʿdilūna
